The time has come to make some changes on Luna Server. This machine has been serving files since 2000. Since that time "luna" has played an important role as "Web Host" for dozens of domains on the west coast of North America.
One day several years ago the family decided to "move to paradise". So we "loaded up the wagon" and headed North to Yachats, Oregon. To complicate matters, "we" thought it would be a good time to build our own house... You know, a home with a view and all that.
As a result there came a point where Luna and several other servers had to be decommissioned and stored on the coast, until our home office was ready to serve again.
So for almost a year the network was essentially taped up in a box.
When everything was ready, we set the network back up and reconfigured for our new domain(s). Not a problem. Now the demand is greater for our services and yet the system started showing signs of an imminent MELTDOWN.... :(
So it was time to upgrade to more recent versions of virtually everything.. The Database, httpd and php, you name it..
Domains hosted by clubyachats were relocated to another server whilst I rebuilt Luna and upgraded the OS.
Luna is coming along just fine and is past the testing and debug phase now. (She's moved from "CPU ICU" to "guarded", and then "fair" condition). Finally, she's up and running again! Your looking at her. Welcome to Yachats Undergound!
The new look and functionality will greatly offset the time and effort involved in executing the upgrade process.
I would like to thank my wife, who has had to tolerate a huge investment in time this project has required of me when there were so many other priorities beckoning our attention.
I would also like to thank our ClubYachats' clients for their patience and understanding during this transition.
That being said, please keep in mind that "No Website was harmed during the process of this upgrade!"
